Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 28, 2026
1. Introduction
Glinks ("Glinks", "we", "us" or "our") provides a go-links service that lets individuals and teams create short, memorable links (such as go/payroll) that redirect to longer URLs. The Glinks Service is available through our web application at getglinks.com and through our browser extensions for Chrome and Edge. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Glinks website, web application, and browser extensions (collectively, the "Service").
By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Service.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information you provide
- Account information. When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and (if you register with an email and password) a securely hashed password. You may optionally upload a profile picture.
- Single sign-on (SSO) information. If you sign in using Google or Microsoft, we receive your basic profile information and email address from that provider in order to create and authenticate your account. We do not receive your provider password.
- Link content. We store the short links you create, including the short path, destination URL, description, namespace, and whether a link is private or public.
- Organization information. If your account is associated with an organization (grouped by your email domain), we store the organization name, display name, subdomain identifier, primary contact number, and your role within it.
- Communications. If you contact us for support or feedback, we keep the information you send us.
2.2 Information we collect automatically
- Usage data. We record a visit count for each short link so that owners can see how often a link is used. We may also collect log information such as IP address, browser type, device information, and timestamps for security, troubleshooting, and to keep the Service running reliably.
- Cookies and similar technologies. We use cookies and session storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. The browser extension uses local browser storage (
chrome.storage.local) to remember your sign-in state so it can redirect go/ and g/ links on your behalf.
- Favicons. To display a link's icon, we may fetch and cache the favicon of a destination domain.
2.3 Browser extension
The Glinks browser extension uses the declarativeNetRequest and storage permissions to redirect go/ and g/ URLs to getglinks.com so they resolve to your destination links. The extension does not read or transmit the content of the web pages you visit, and it does not track your general browsing history. It communicates with the Glinks web application only to synchronize your sign-in state.
3. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and operate the Service, including creating, storing, and resolving your short links;
- Authenticate you and keep your account secure;
- Group users into organizations and enforce link sharing, privacy, and access rules;
- Display usage statistics, such as link visit counts, to link and organization owners;
- Respond to your support requests and feedback;
- Monitor, debug, and improve the Service, including diagnosing errors; and
- Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
4. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Within your organization. If you belong to an organization, links you create that are not marked private, and basic profile information, may be visible to other members and administrators of your organization. Public links may be accessible without sign-in if your organization permits it.
- Service providers. We use trusted third parties to operate the Service, including authentication providers (Google and Microsoft) and error-monitoring tools (Sentry). These providers process information only on our behalf and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required to do so by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to comply with a legal obligation, protect our rights or the safety of others, or investigate fraud or security issues.
- Business transfers. If Glinks is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and link data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you close your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or security purposes.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted transport (HTTPS) and hashed passwords. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
- You can access and update most of your account information directly from your account settings.
- You can delete the short links you create at any time.
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information by contacting us at [email protected]. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request.
- You can remove the browser extension at any time from your browser's extensions settings.
8. International Data Transfers
Glinks uses service providers that may process data in other countries, primarily in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries that may have data protection laws different from those in your country.
9. Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to children under the age of 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
